Designer, Brand Builder, Boundary Pusher
With a background in industrial design and film, Jonathan is the creative force behind Swave Studios. His experience includes mapping strategic vision, customer research, creative design, and brand building. From consumer products and medical devices to B2B initiatives and sustainability challenges, Jonathan has been involved with innovative product development and brand building for the past 20 years. He is the current president of the Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario (ACIDO) and on the board of the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers (ACID).
Implementation Expert, Technical Guru
With a background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing and software development, John is the technical force behind Swave Studios. With a focus on implementation, his expertise includes project management, mechanical design, manufacturing, and operations. Over the years, John has developed new products ranging from medical equipment to the, Tour de France winning, carbon-fibre bicycle frame for Cervelo Cycles. He has also worked on long range innovation projects with Magna International. In addition to his design background, John has developed a broad base of experience in complex mechanical design, software development and intellectual property.
Most often, we work with clients on a traditional fee-for-service arrangement. Fee structure can be based on the project, strategic initiative, or as an ongoing relationship via retainer.
Sometimes a new venture project needs help with financing. We work with some clients at a reduced fee on a royalty/equity structure. We share the upfront risk as well as the reward when the project launches.
